How is Housing Benefit paid direct to my tenant?

If the Housing Benefit cheque is sent to your tenant and their Housing Benefit claim started on or after 7th October 1996 benefit will be paid to them every two weeks in arrears.

If the cheque is sent to your tenant and they have been continuously in receipt of Housing Benefit at the same address since 6th October 1996 benefit will be paid to them every two weeks and it will be one week in arrears and one week in advance.
