What tenancy information is needed?

In addition to proof of income, every applicant for Housing Benefit must provide :

• the date their tenancy started
• the date the tenant moved in to the property
• the rent charged and how often e.g. weekly, monthly
• the number and type of rooms in the property
• the rooms occupied by the tenant
• the name and address of the landlord; and

A tenancy agreement or a rent book which should show the date the tenancy began, the amount of rent charged and any services included in the rent (such as heating, meals etc)
