Overpayments

If your Council Tax account is in credit:

If you have moved house to another property in Carlisle City Council's area your credit will be transferred to your new account.

If you have moved out of Carlisle City Council's area and you give us your new address we will issue you with a refund.

If you have been awarded Council Tax Benefit and you no longer owe any Council Tax we will issue you with a refund. If it is close to the new Council Tax year and you are not on full Council Tax Benefit we may credit it to your next years bill depending on the amount. We will tell you what we have done.

If you have been overpaid Council Tax Benefit:

If you have been overpaid Council Tax Benefit then this will be added to your Council Tax and we will send you a new bill.  If you want to make a payment arrangement you need to contact us either by phone on 01228 817200 or by visiting the Customer Contact Centre at the Civic Centre.
