Business Rates
National Non-Domestic Rates
(often called NNDR or Business Rates) are a form of tax charged on
properties used for non-domestic purposes.
Other than certain discretionary relief, the Council has no part
in setting the charge for Business Rates.
The non-domestic rates collected nationally are paid to the
government who reallocates the money to all the local authorities
according to the number of people living in the area, except in the
City of London where special arrangements apply.
Our share of the re-distributed rates, together with what we
collect from Council Tax, government funding and other sources pays
for the services we and other local authorities in your area
provide.
