Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976

A list of dangerous wild animals is set out in the guidance notes available on the DEFRA website.

The keeping of any dangerous wild animal is unlawful unless a licence has been issued by the council. Any person intending to keep such an animal must meet certain requirements before a licence can be issued.

The licence is for a maximum period of 12 months and is renewable on the anniversary of the licence issue date.

An application form should be submitted to Environmental Quality for processing.  A fee of £115-00 (yearly) is applicable and a Vets report must be obtained at the applicant's expense.
