Community wardens

The successful Neighbourhood Policing project in South Cumbria has been extended across the rest of the county, so that community officers and police community support officers are working with local people and partner organisations to make a real difference to your neighbourhood. This is leading to noticeable reductions in levels of anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and disorder across Cumbria.

By the time you read this, there will be a total of 105 police community support officers supporting the work of local policing teams. They will form part of our Change Programme which has been drawn up by the Constabulary in the light of the decision by Government not to go ahead with amalgamations of police forces. The main aim of this programme will be to maintain successful levels of neighbourhood policing and we will also be improving our provision of protective services dealing with serious crime and dangerous offences. This will be done in a way that is prudent, sustainable and affordable, but will achieve better protection from harm for our communities.
