Who Supports Scrutiny?

The City Council's scrutiny function is assisted by the scrutiny team. Each scrutiny committee has support from an officer in the team. These officers provide support to the members of the committee. In practice this means:

• liaising with scrutiny chairs, officers in committee services and other service areas and senior managers;
• supporting subject reviews, carrying out research and preparing draft reports;
• providing briefings to chairs and the full committees before meetings;
• ensuring work programmes and key documents are produced and updated; and
• managing and supporting in-depth reviews
