Tarn carpark gets makeover

(Date of issue: Wednesday, 19 November 2008)

Carlisle City Council as part of its continuing programme of maintaining and upgrading the facilities at Talkin Tarn Country Park is in the process of upgrading the carpark. The improvements include resurfacing work; defining the carpark perimeters and widening access points and general landscaping, which started this week and will continue until just before Christmas.

Carlisle City Council took over the management of the Country Park in April 2006 and upgraded the facilities to ensure that they complied with DDA and health & safety regulations. With the area and its buildings being made accessible, as well as safe, for residents to visit. Over time, the facilities had become neglected and were in need of repair. Since the Summer of 2006 a continued one million pound investment programme and ongoing round of improvement works has ensured that future visitors are able to fully enjoy their visit to the Brampton site.

Cllr Ray Bloxham portfolio holder for Environment and Infrastructure said:

‘’these carpark improvements are part of the City Council’s continued investment in the facilities at the Country Park and will continue to ensure that the facilities on offer meet the needs of visitors and residents.’’
