Elections 2010

The next City elections will take place on 6th May 2010.  A Parliamentary election will also be held by 3rd June 2010, although the date for that election is still to be announced.

Elections 6th May 2010

Elections will be held in the following 17 wards of the City on Thursday, 6th May 2010 (one Councillor to be elected in each ward):

Belah, Belle Vue, Botcherby, Brampton, Castle, Currock, Dalston, Denton Holme, Harraby, Longtown & Rockcliffe, Morton, St Aidans, Stanwix Rural, Stanwix Urban, Upperby, Wetheral and Yewdale.

Parish elections will also take place in Dalston and St. Cuthbert Without parishes on the same day:

Electoral Register

Full details about the Electoral Register and ways of being included on the Register can be found on the Electoral Register page.  Any person who wishes to be included on the Register for the forthcoming election needs to submit their application for inclusion on the Register by not later than 20th April 2010.

Postal and Proxy Voting

Electors who wish to vote by post or proxy need to apply in writing and must provide their date of birth and a specimen of their signature.  Application forms can be obtained from Electoral Services (Tel. 01228 817555 or 817556; e-mail: elections@carlisle.gov.uk), or by calling at Customer Services in the Civic Centre.  Postal vote application forms can also be download here: (Link to postal vote application form)

Anyone who wishes to apply for a Postal Vote for the election on 6th May 2010 must submit their completed application form by not later than 5.00pm on 20th April 2010.

Anyone who wishes to apply for a Proxy Vote for the election on 6th May 2010 must submit their completed application form by not later than 5.00pm on 27th April 2010.
