Learning City is a key priority for Carlisle City Council. We have identified 3 themes in the Corporate Improvement Plan:

• Promoting access to learning;
• Developing skills to support, nurture and attract businesses;
• Leading by example.

The vision for learning in Carlisle

The wider Learning City agenda is about formal and informal learning, from cradle to career and beyond, offering local people the opportunity to get involved in learning at times and in places that are convenient to them. It is about removing barriers to learning and raising aspirations and achievement at all ages and levels.
