Abandoned vehicles

Carlisle City Council has a duty to investigate and remove any vehicle which is abandoned. Under the Refuse Disposal Amenity Act 1978, it is also an offence for any person to abandon a vehicle.

How to dispose of an unwanted vehicle

Carlisle City Council now offers a Free removal and disposal service for residents who no longer want their vehicle.

There are two ways that this can be done.

1. You can take your vehicle with the registration document and proof of residency directly to our contractor.

     2.  We can arrange for our contractor to collect the vehicle from  your address at no extra charge.

Untaxed Vehicles

Carlisle City Council also has the authority to remove untaxed vehicles from the highway.
