Local Plan

The City Council adopted the Carlisle District Local Plan 2001-2016 at its meeting on the 9th September 2008.  The Local Plan is a "saved plan" under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. It will be saved for three years during which time other documents will have to be prepared or measures taken to save policies for a longer period. This work will be taken forward as part of the Council's Local Development Scheme.

We now have hard copies of the Local Plan to purchase (£38 + £4.50 P&P) however the interactive map and text on the web site is still being prepared. In the meantime a plain text version of the Local Plan is attached to assist.  Please note that policy numbers and paragraphs have been updated from the revised redeposit version of the plan.

Inspector's Report - April 2008

The City Council adopted the Carlisle District Local Plan 2001-2016 at its meeting on the 9th September 2008.  The Local Plan is a "saved plan" under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.  It will be saved for three years during which time other documents will have to be prepared or measures taken to save policies for a longer period.

Under the provisions of Schedule 8 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, some policies of the adopted Local Plan have been "saved" and will therefore be used when assessing planning proposals and applications.
