Dog bins

Carlisle City Council’s Area Maintenance section maintains and empties approximately 900 litterbins in the city and rural area. Refuse from properties or businesses waste should not be placed in litterbins, as this is an offence. Litterbins are emptied weekly, or when full.

The bins are also provided to allow dog walkers to dispose of used poop scoops and bagged waste. Carlisle City Council is phasing out the specific red dog bins in favour of providing more litter bins.

Litterbins in park areas are maintained and emptied by the City Councils Green Spaces section. In some rural areas the Parish Councils have their own litterbins which are not maintained or emptied by us.
