National Concessionary Fares Pass from 1st April 2008

From 1st April 2008 a new national bus pass will entitle concessionary bus pass holders to travel off peak, 9.30am until 11pm Monday to Friday, and all day Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, on local buses across England but not within Scotland, or Northern Ireland.

Carlisle residents who have a bus pass issued by Carlisle City Council can travel free all day every day on buses which start their journey within ther Carlisle City Council area. Travel elsewhere in Britain is restricted to off peak travel Monday to Friday.

Carlisle City Council pass holders can travel

  • Free every day with no time restrictions when boarding a bus within the Carlisle area.
  • Outside the Carlisle area full fare is payable before 9:30 and after 23:00 Monday to Friday and free between these times.
  • Travel outside the Carlisle area is free all day at weekends and Bank holidays.

If you currently have a NoWcard and have changed address since the card was issued you should contact the NoWcard Helpline 0845 058 1096 to ensure that your travel pass will be sent to the right address.

If you already have a NoWcard

If you have applied for a NoWcard on or after 1st April 2007 you will automatically receive a National Concession Bus Pass for April 2008.

If you applied for your NoWcard before 1st April 2007 you should have received a personalised application form. If you receive an application form please follow the instructions printed on the form to order your National Concession Bus Pass.

The old style NoWcard concessionary bus passes will be eligible for local travel only until 30th September 2008.
