Saturday 21 July to Sunday 29 July 2012

You are invited to enjoy Carlisle's action-packed, nine-day programme of FREE Love Parks Week events.

This includes:

Carlisle Love Parks Week  (Saturday 21 - Sunday 29 July)

Carlisle will be celebrating Love Parks Week for the fourth consecutive year this summer. The nine day programme of exciting FREE events and activities will be spread across Carlisle's parks and green spaces, offering something for everyone.

Get Growing Carlisle (Saturday 21 July 10am - 4pm, Carlisle City Centre)

Visit Carlisle's 'pop-up' allotment for entertaining and inspiring ideas for growing your own produce.

With support from 'Here We Grow with Dobbies' and The Lanes Shopping Centre, you'll be able to sow seeds, get advice from experts, do activities and sit on the grass to watch the entertainment, including local celebrity chef John Crouch demonstrating how to rustle-up mouth watering dishes using fresh local produce.

Bitts of Music, Art and Nature (Tuesday 24 July 11am - 3pm, Bitts Park)

Nurture your wild side with musicians, artists and environmental groups in the beautiful surroundings of Victoria Gardens, Bitts Park. Look at nature around us; create your own mini-masterpieces; and follow the musical trail. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, appropriate for the weather on the day.

Morton Community Games 2012 (Thursday 26 July 11am - 3pm, Chance's Park)

Alongside other events and activities, Chance's Park will be hosting the 'Morton Community Games 2012'. Carlisle & District Sport and Physical Activity Alliance Foundation will be offering a range of family fun sports activities, so run, jump and throw yourself into getting prepared for the 2012 Olympic Games!

The Great 'Olympicnic' (Sunday 29 July 12.30pm - 6pm, Bitts Park)

A sporty mixture of entertainment and activities to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics will be the finale to this year's Carlisle Love Parks Week. The event is supported by Eddie Stobart and BSW Timber and will include a 'Have a go at Sports' with Carlisle Leisure Limited, Disney's 'Goofy's All-Star Olympics' cartoon on a big screen, the Sunshine Panners steel band (see above), the Bread and Butter Theatre Company and live TV coverage of the day's Olympic events. Tickets are not needed, just come along and join the fun. Please note that seating isn't provided, so come prepared.
